We’ve learned again and again that prayer isn’t just preparation for the work—it is the work. Living in the Amazon has reminded us how dependent we are on God for everything: wisdom when we don’t know the right words, strength when days are long, and faith when challenges arise. The remoteness of life here makes prayer even more vital. We often feel the peace of knowing that people far away are interceding for us and for the Jarawara people.

Prayer is what sustains this mission. When someone prays, God moves—softening hearts, opening doors for conversation, and providing in ways only He can. We’ve seen prayers answered through the healing of the sick, the arrival of needed supplies, and the spiritual growth of new believers. Every breakthrough we experience here is covered in the prayers of faithful friends and churches who have joined us in this journey.

Would you pray with us for these ongoing needs?

How to Pray

  • For spiritual growth: that the Jarawara church would grow in unity, maturity, and a deep hunger for God’s Word.

  • For discipleship and leadership: that new believers would remain steadfast and that local leaders like Kaike and Graça would be strengthened as they teach others.

  • For language learning: that we would continue to progress in fluency, communicating Scripture clearly and naturally.

  • For open doors: that the gospel would reach neighboring villages and that God would raise up more indigenous missionaries.

  • For health and endurance: for our family’s well-being—especially for our daughter, Esther—and for wisdom in balancing ministry and home life.

  • For resources and provision: that God would continue to meet every practical and financial need for ongoing translation, travel, and community outreach.

If you’d like to pray with us more intentionally, we send out monthly prayer updates with specific requests and answered prayers. These emails often include stories from the field—ways you can rejoice with us and see how your prayers are making a difference in real lives.

We can’t express enough how much your prayers mean to us. Every time we open a Bible study, travel to another village, or see someone take a step of faith, we’re reminded that we’re not doing this alone. You are part of the team God is using to reach the Jarawara people with the good news of Jesus.
